Sitting on a beach chair in the not-yet dawn coffee mug in hand, stifling a yawn. I await the first summer sunrise.

Sandpipers join me; Legs like little sticks they strut toward the water then stutter back real quick. Fiddler crabs dart past in surprise.

Over the horizon the buttery sun debuts. The blue sky transforms into pink and peachy hues. The reflection glows in my eyes.

Gentle waves head to shore crested in liquid gold. They spill up the sand and tickle my toes, With a promise and a sigh.
