What a charming lad, that Goldfinch!

Notice how his wings have begun to shine

that buttery yellow we've come to admire.

What an amiable fellow, that Goldfinch!

Look how he mingles with those not his kind

and nods to the ladies perched up high.

The patience of a Saint, that Goldfinch!

See him contentedly waiting in line

for a cool drink of water, from the fountain nearby.
